STH wins award for Hospitality Programme at Rugby World Cup 2019
Sports Travel & Hospitality Group (STH) has won the bronze award at this year’s Sport Business Awards in the Best Sports Club/Best Event Hospitality category.
The company won the award in recognition of the quality of its official hospitality programme at Rugby World Cup 2019 held in Japan.
More than 65,000 rugby fans from around the world enjoyed the unique and innovative hospitality services created by the STH team.
The success of the programme was even more notable given that sports hospitality is not a concept familiar to Japanese sports fans and STH had to be particularly innovative to market to the host nation’s fans.
“I’m very proud of the great STH team whose several years of dedicated effort have been recognised in this award”, said Simon Jefford, CEO of STH Group.
“I would also like to pass on my congratulations to World Rugby for winning the Best Sports Event of the Year Award for Rugby World Cup 2019, and to thank them again for the opportunity to work on such a memorable event.”
STH set up a new office in Tokyo as part of its preparation for the delivery of the sports hospitality at the Rugby World Cup 2019.
This office is now the focal point for the marketing, selling and delivery of a world-class official hospitality experience at the postponed Tokyo Olympic Games, which is now scheduled to start on July 23, 2021.
