A Golden Decade – The next five Rugby World Cup hosts have been announced!
The Rugby World Cup has officially announced the hosts of the next five Rugby World Cups, including both the men’s and women’s tournaments. The host country of these events always plays a big role in shaping the world of rugby, going forward, not to mention bringing plenty of business to the hospitality and tourism industries of the countries chosen. Each Rugby World Cup is a chance to immerse in a new culture and experience a truly remarkable event. As such, we’ll take a quick look at the host countries chosen and what we might expect from each tournament.
Rugby World Cup 2025 (Women’s tournament) – ENGLAND
Rugby is coming back to the place where it all started yet again, this time as the centre of the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025. Given the unprecedented support for the Rugby World Cup, not to mention the increasing rise of women’s rugby in popularity and attention, it promises to be an exciting one.
Having the spotlight on the women’s tournament in England in 2025 is thought to be a landmark event for all women’s sports. The RFU already has plans for venues across the country, using the opportunity to invest in local facilities, recruit more female coaches and referees, and bring in new fans as a result.
With recent Six Nations matches attracted record crowds for women’s rugby, and England Rugby winning the title, there’s no better time to bring Rugby home to England for Rugby World Cup 2025.
Rugby World Cup 2027 (Men’s tournament) – AUSTRALIA
Sunny Australia is a country that has deep rugby traditions, with the 2027 Rugby World Cup serving as the next in a packed rugby schedule over the next few years. Not only do they have the RWC to look forward to, but they’re already hosting the British and Irish Lions in 2025, the Commonwealth Games in 2026, Rugby World Cup 2027 and 2029 and the summer Olympics in Brisbane in 2032.
The addition of not one but two Rugby World Cups in the middle of that schedule is set to make it a truly golden age for sports in Australia. Fans are expected to flock from around the world to enjoy the sporting seasons year after year as the hosts continue to offer the world-class tournaments they have become known for.

Rugby World Cup 2029 (Women’s tournament) – AUSTRALIA
Australia is playing host to not one but two Rugby World Cup tournaments as, two years after the men’s tournament, the women’s teams will be keeping the festivities going. This is a landmark occasion for Australia, as it is the first time that they will host the women’s Rugby World Cup, losing out to New Zealand when they previously bid for the rights in 2021.
Fans from all over the world will head to Australia to witness the best rugby players compete to win the Rugby World Cup title. With only seven years to wait, this tournament is set to be one to remember.
With the Olympic and Paralympic Games expected to take place in Brisbane in 2032, the two RWC events are set to continue to raise the Australian interest in local sports, bringing the world’s attention to the country, and leading to huge socio-economic benefits through the already-thriving tourism industry, as well as through increased investment in local sports programmes and infrastructure.
Rugby World Cup 2031 (Men’s tournament) – USA
Though perhaps not always one of the most popular sports of choice, rugby’s participation and viewership rates have been rocking throughout the United States as of late and this is expected to only continue to happen as 2031 will see the men’s Rugby World Cup coming stateside for the first time ever.
The US has only recently implemented a fully professional domestic men’s league, Major League Rugby (MLR), which has given the locals an increased opportunity to get to see and feel the buzz behind rugby. This has played a large role in the increasing demand for the sport, which is very likely to grow to a fever pitch in 2031. Of course, that’s not the only tournament being hosted by the US in the coming decade.
Watching live sport in the USA is an ultimate spectator experience, with a history of exceptional atmosphere. The upcoming Rugby World Cup tournaments in 2031 and 2033 are due to follow suit, and it’s clear to be a tournament to remember.
Rugby World Cup 2033 (Women’s tournament) – USA
Rugby fever is set to continue to grip the US as, two years after the men’s tournament, the women’s RWC is set to return in 2033. Indeed, it’s the first time that the women’s Rugby World Cup has been held in the US, having missed out in 2006 to Canada, who held it in Edmonton, Alberta.
However, the excitement for women’s rugby has plenty of history in the States, with the US Eagles – the national rugby team – having won the very first edition of the competition in 1991, with excellent performances seeing them reach the finals in 1994 and 1998. The increasing popularity and focus on women’s sports is set to make this tournament even more memorable for the locals.
