International Rugby is back, and so is the demand for it.
Six Nations Rugby
2022 Six Nations is fast approaching and the excitement is building for this iconic tournament. Perhaps it’s that Wales are defending their current title or that Ireland seems set to lead the field, based on their recent form that has everyone in the UK looking forward to Six Nations with hope and trepidation?
Although Scotland and England also stand a fair chance of success too in this years Six Nations tournament, especially with England players like Marcus Smith and Freddie Steward on the team. Both of whom proved themselves in 2021 as valuable assets to the England line up.
Of course, the fact that stadiums are now open once again to crowds and live spectators also has something to do with the Six Nations buzz. After all, there is nothing like standing shoulder to shoulder with your nation’s supporters and feeling all the thrills of the live experience, and cheering on your team with fellow fans. Something that has been sorely missing from the game in previous years due to Covid.
With England and Scotland kick-starting their Six Nations Campaign head-to-head at Murrayfield this weekend (Saturday 5 February), Scotland are favourites to lift the Calcutta Cup, but could Eddie Jones’ players take victory in Edinburgh? Both teams have put out a strong side, and it could be anyone’s match – but what is guaranteed is a thrilling opening weekend for the sides.
Another rivalry in the Home Nations, Wales will be taking on Ireland in Dublin this Saturday 5 February. An injury stricken Welsh side are the underdogs going into the match, with Ireland putting out 13 of their players who clinched the exhilarating 29-20 victory against the All Blacks in Dublin last year. Wales have not opened their Six Nations campaign without Alun Wyn Jones or Ken Owens for some 16 years, both who are ruled out this weekend with injury. That said, Wales have some exciting players on the pitch, with fan favourite Dan Bigger captaining the side, facing his British and Irish Lions team mate, Ireland captain Jonny Sexton – in a match-up that could prove for some exciting viewing.
