Tiger Woods joins golfing stars heading to Carnoustie
Tiger Woods is making his second Major tournament comeback this year at The Open Championship. The American golfer has announced he will be heading to the Scottish town of Carnoustie this July in a bid to lift the Claret Jug again, making the tournament one of the most anticipated sporting events of 2018.
Woods has taken a back seat from the sport to undergo multiple back surgeries before his dramatic comeback in December 2017 which has since seen three consecutive top-12 finishes. The 14-time major champion has his sights set on his fourth Open Championship win, and his first major championship win in a decade.
The announcement follows his first Major appearance at the Masters earlier this year, which saw him tied in 32nd position – an impressive break back into the world’s top 100 after a 16-month break from the sport.
A three time winner of the Open, Woods is looking to repeat the form that saw him claim the iconic Claret Jug at St Andrews (2000, 2005) and Royal Liverpool (2006). The return will mark his first appearance at the Open since 2015.
